This short fairy-tale retelling follows Ella, a Black transgender woman forced by her cruel stepmother to live under her deadname and do all the household labor after her father's death. When a fae tailor offers her magical help to attend the royal ball, Ella finally gets to be seen as herself and catches the eye of Princess Lizabetta. The brief, wish-fulfillment-style novella traces Ella's path from abuse and erasure toward acceptance, found family, and love. It is the first book in the author's Black Trans Fairy Tales series.
