Threshing Day is a companion short-story collection set in Rebecca Yarros's dragon-rider Empyrean world, giving thirteen different characters (including Xaden Riorson) a chance to narrate their own terrifying first bonding trial with a dragon. Rather than continuing Violet's story, it fills in gaps around the beloved main trilogy by showing the same deadly rite of passage from many other cadets' points of view. It's structured as an anthology, so readers get quick, varied glimpses into side characters' backstories and dragon partnerships rather than one continuous plot.
