Edie Van Der Zee, a sharp-tongued teenage girl from a troubled wealthy family, is blackmailed by her own father into spying on his cold, controlling business rival, Trent Rexroth, a single father raising a selectively mute young daughter. As Edie gets closer to Trent through her internship, their mutual hostility gives way to a forbidden, high-stakes attraction that threatens both their families and reputations. The story is a dual-POV contemporary romance built around age-gap tension, workplace proximity, and buried family secrets. It is part of Shen's interconnected Sinners of Saint series but reads as a standalone love story.
