Exit West

Mohsin Hamid

In an unnamed city sliding into civil war, two young people, Nadia and Saeed, fall into a tentative romance just as their world begins to collapse around them. When mysterious doors begin appearing that can transport people instantly to other parts of the globe, the couple flees through one, becoming refugees who must rebuild their lives and relationship across a series of strange new places. The novel blends realism with a touch of magical fabulism to explore love, displacement, and the strain that upheaval places on identity and connection.
