In this dark, contemporary retelling of Aladdin set in a modern crime-family underworld, sheltered Jasmine (Yasmina) is essentially handed over by her controlling father to his ruthless second-in-command, Jafar, as part of a business deal. When Jafar takes over the family's criminal empire, he claims Jasmine too, and their fraught, antagonistic history gives way to a consensual power-exchange relationship built on negotiated kink. Outside threats and old betrayals complicate their growing bond as Jasmine decides whether freedom or Jafar is what she really wants.
