The Sun and the Star

Rick Riordan and Mark Oshiro

Book 1 of The Nico di Angelo Adventures

This Percy Jackson spin-off follows established couple Nico di Angelo and Will Solace as they venture into the hellish pit of Tartarus to rescue an old ally, the Titan Bob. Told in alternating chapters from both boys' perspectives, the story blends classic Riordan-style mythological adventure with a much deeper look at Nico's past trauma and the strain the quest puts on his relationship with Will. It's less about new romance and more about an already-bonded couple learning to communicate and support each other through literal and emotional darkness.
