The Square Root of Summer

Harriet Reuter Hapgood

A grieving teenage physics prodigy named Gottie starts inexplicably slipping backward through time to relive painful and formative moments from the year before, the summer her grandfather died and her secret boyfriend abandoned her at the funeral. As she tries to understand the wormholes opening around her, her childhood best friend Thomas returns after years away, forcing her to confront old wounds and new feelings. The novel blends contemporary YA romance with light science-fiction time-travel elements to explore grief, family, and first love.
