This is Ocean Vuong's debut full-length poetry collection, first published in 2016 by Copper Canyon Press. Drawing on his Vietnamese American experience, the poems move between the Vietnam War, family history, queer desire, and personal trauma. The collection won the T. S. Eliot Prize and was widely praised for its lyrical intensity and unflinching honesty. It is a work of literary poetry rather than a narrative romance novel.
