In this Chinese-folklore-inspired reimagining of Cinderella, a street-smart thief named Yining infiltrates a glittering, dangerous royal court to reclaim a magical ring stolen from her, only to be pulled into a web of political intrigue involving a ruthless prince and a secretive rival-court advisor. As she uncovers clues about her own hidden heritage, she must decide who she can trust while navigating courtly power struggles and a slow-building romantic entanglement. It's a lush, atmospheric fantasy that leans more on world-building and mystery than on romance heat.
