Fever Dream

Samanta Schweblin

A woman named Amanda lies dying in a rural clinic, guided through a disorienting interrogation by a young boy named David who is not her own son. As they piece together the events of her final days at a vacation home in the Argentine countryside, a slow-building dread emerges around pesticide contamination, a local healer's strange remedies, and the fierce, anxious bond between parents and children. Told as a tense, unbroken dialogue, this literary horror novella builds an atmosphere of mounting unease rather than a traditional plot.
