Book 1 of The Immortal Sorting

Fleeing Fae slavers with her young daughter, a woman submits to a magical auction called the Immortal Sorting rather than face a worse fate, and is claimed by Uther, a formidable orc clan commander. What starts as a transactional bargain for protection slowly becomes something deeper as the wary heroine learns to trust her intimidating but surprisingly tender new protector while old enemies close in. Set in a post-apocalyptic, gaslamp-fantasy version of Earth shared by orcs, fae, and other immortal races, the story blends found-family warmth with danger and political intrigue.
