Picking up right after Close Liaisons, this book follows Mia as she relocates to Lenkarda, the main Krinar settlement in Costa Rica, still reeling from her own betrayal of Korum and now utterly dependent on him in an unfamiliar alien world. As she learns more about Krinar culture, technology, and history, her bond with the possessive, centuries-old Korum deepens even as outside political forces threaten their fragile relationship. The novel mixes world-building and sci-fi intrigue with an intensifying, increasingly explicit romance between the two leads.
