Alissa Nutting

A darkly satirical literary thriller narrated by Celeste Price, a beautiful young middle-school teacher in Florida who hides a predatory obsession with teenage boys behind a perfect public image. Told entirely from her unflinching, unrepentant point of view, the novel uses pitch-black comedy and deliberately explicit prose to expose the hypocrisy and double standards surrounding female sexual predators. It is less a romance than a disturbing character study and social critique in the vein of American Psycho.
