Bennett Brinkman, San Francisco's golden-boy baseball star, has quietly carried a crush on his sister's best friend Bower for years, and when she moves into his apartment building their friendship starts to blur into something more. Told from both perspectives, the story follows their slow-burn transition from platonic friends (bonded over a two-person romance book club) to a real couple, while Bower wrestles with guilt over betraying a promise to protect Bennett for his sister's sake. It's a humor-filled, spice-forward sports romcom about timing, found family, and finally seeing someone for who they've become. The book can be read as a standalone but builds on characters introduced in the first Bay Area Players novel.
