Skarr bodyguard Hinrivik has silently loved the human woman under his protection for years, but when her marriage is arranged to another man, he's assigned to escort her across the sea to deliver her to her new husband. As the long voyage forces them into close quarters, unspoken feelings rise to the surface, and Hinrivik must weigh his own heart against the political fallout of breaking a marriage contract. The book explores loyalty, restraint, and slow-building longing between a gentle giant and the woman he's duty-bound to give away. It deepens the series' world-building around Skarr customs and human-alien politics.
