A teenage girl named Sofia is abducted on her seventeenth birthday and taken to a hidden, sunless island ruled by an ancient vampire coven. There she is forced into the harem of the coven's newly awakened prince, Derek, and must navigate fear, captivity, and an unwanted attraction in order to survive. The short, fast-paced opening installment sets up the series' central vampire-prince-and-captive-human romance and ends on an abrupt cliffhanger.
