A grieving symbology researcher named Farryn follows the trail of her late father's obsession with a shadow-realm called Nightshade, and ends up drawn to Jericho Van Croix, a winged, secretive being who guards a crumbling cathedral on its edge. Chapters alternate between Farryn and Jericho's present-day entanglement and a centuries-old love story that turns out to be tangled up in their fate. As Farryn is pulled deeper into a world of cults, angels and demons, she and Jericho fight an attraction that could destroy them both. It's a slow-building, atmosphere-heavy gothic romance that ends on a hopeful note rather than a cliffhanger.
