Yarik, the heir to a London-based Russian Bratva family, discovers a dying boy on a riverbank and takes him in, giving him the name Kirill. Over the following decade the two grow up side by side inside the brutal world of his father's mafia empire, their bond deepening into an unspoken, one-sided love that neither can safely act on. Told from alternating perspectives, this slow-burn dark mafia romance traces their friendship from childhood into young adulthood and ends on an unresolved cliffhanger that carries into its sequel, Kiss of Death.
