Kairo is an MM romance entry in Crea Reitan's Van Doren family saga, centered on the prickliest, most guarded member of the Van Doren clan. Kairo has spent years keeping everyone, family included, at arm's length while quietly taking care of the people in his Chicago orbit. When Malcolm, a survivor of his own traumatic past who's been folded into the Van Doren found family, is sent to check on him, his calm persistence slowly cracks Kairo's defenses open. It's a slow-burn, emotionally heavy story about learning to accept care and love after a lifetime of feeling unchosen.
