Ariatne 'Atta' Morrow, daughter of morticians and a botany student at Trinity College Dublin in the 1990s, becomes entangled in the mystery of a strange plague that seems to root beneath the skin of its victims like invasive flora. Her investigation pulls her toward Sonder Murdoch, Trinity's brooding professor of morbid anatomy, and together they uncover a secret society and old Irish folklore about possessing Fae. Set against a candlelit, gothic Dublin, the story pairs a slow-burn forbidden attraction with body-horror mystery as the pair race to stop the affliction from spreading.
