A blind Elysian Elf scientist named Raewyn accidentally portals into a dangerous new world and must rely on a brutal, ancient monster called a Duskwalker to help her find a way home. Merikh, centuries old and hardened by loss, initially sees her as prey but finds himself drawn to her resilience and warmth despite his own violent nature. As they travel together through hostile territory, old wounds and buried backstory about the Duskwalkers and the series' antagonist come to light. Their slow-building bond forces both characters to confront what it means to let someone in after a lifetime of self-protection.
