The Hunter is the third book in Tiffany Roberts' sci-fi/fantasy alien-romance series The Vrix, a spin-off of her Spider's Mate trilogy. It follows Telok, a scarred vrix hunter who has shut himself off from forming new bonds after losing people he couldn't protect, and Lacey, the human woman who captivates him despite the danger the deadly jungle called the Tangle poses to her. When she joins him on a trek deep into that wilderness, he must fight both the hostile Tangle and his own resolve to keep her at a distance in order to keep her alive and claim her as his mate.
