In a flooded 2095 London, grief-numbed homicide detective Josiah Raine investigates the murder of a celebrity, and every clue points to the victim's enigmatic indentured servant, Alexander Lytton. As Josiah digs deeper he finds himself dangerously drawn to his prime suspect, even though falling for a man the system treats as property could destroy them both. Told across dual timelines, the book blends a noir mystery with a slow-burn romance and does not fully resolve by its final page.
