Picking up immediately after book one, Alex has become a pawn of his captor and is stripped of his freedom and forced into prostitution in Ghost Eye City, clinging to the memory of who he once was, while Josiah's pursuit of the truth about his husband's death forces old wounds back open. Their fragile connection deepens even as the consequences of a violent night years earlier begin to converge on them both. The dual-timeline structure continues, raising the emotional and physical stakes without a full resolution.
