Dark Lover

J.R. Ward

Book 1 of Black Dagger Brotherhood

In the gothic city of Caldwell, New York, Wrath is the last full-blooded vampire and reluctant king of a secret brotherhood of warriors who protect their race from a society of vampire hunters. When his closest ally is killed, Wrath is pulled into guiding the man's half-human daughter, Beth, through a dangerous transition she never knew was coming, and finds himself unable to resist the bond forming between them. As old enemies close in, Wrath must choose between his isolated warrior's life and the female who may be his fated match. It's an atmospheric blend of urban fantasy, found-family brotherhood dynamics, and intense romance that kicked off a long-running paranormal series.
