Destiny Delaine, a human woman repeatedly judged too old and too curvy for Earth's Mate Index program, decides to seize control of her life by stowing away on an alien trade vessel. She ends up claimed by three reptilian Edoka brothers, A'Jular, Sha'melor, and E'budar, who realize she is their one shared, biologically-fated mate. The story follows the four of them navigating alien customs, sibling rivalry, and outside threats as they fight to become a real family and protect their newfound bond.
