Crystal Inola Rivers goes on the run after her reckless ex-boyfriend's theft from a royal alien ship leaves her marked for death by a vengeful prince, so she signs up as a mail-order mate to disappear onto a quiet farming planet. There she's matched to twin brothers Grish and Borth, war veterans turned farmers, with Borth withdrawn and convinced his injuries make him unworthy of a mate. As Crystal works to earn the brothers' trust and build a life with them, a looming volcanic eruption and the danger still trailing her force the family to fight to protect what they've built together.
