This novella catches up with Danny, a human raider, and Wyn, the ancient monster known as the Soul Eater, after the events of the earlier Monstrous books, this time narrated entirely from Wyn's perspective. As the pair travel together clearing out dangerous parasite-monsters, Wyn wrestles with his fear of losing Danny to mortality and the two set out on a journey to the monsters' home world to find a way to stay together permanently. It's a tender, low-conflict continuation of their relationship that leans more into world-building and emotional intimacy than new plot tension.
